As Lahore faces heightened smog levels, the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) has launched an awareness campaign to help residents protect themselves and stay safe. Smog, a persistent issue in the city, brings with it a range of health risks, from eye irritation and headaches to respiratory infections and difficulty breathing. RUDA’s campaign is aimed at educating the public on the necessary precautions to minimize exposure to these harmful effects.
Here are some essential steps RUDA recommends to safeguard your health during smog season:
- Wear a Mask: A quality mask can filter out fine particles present in smog, helping reduce respiratory issues.
- Stay Hydrated: Smog can dry out your body and irritate your respiratory tract. Drinking water regularly keeps your system hydrated and helps flush out toxins.
- Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid outdoor exercise and strenuous activities in high-smog conditions, especially in areas with heavy traffic. Staying indoors can significantly reduce exposure.
- Use an Air Purifier at Home: Installing an air purifier helps eliminate pollutants indoors, creating a safer environment for you and your family.
RUDA also advises residents to monitor the Air Quality Index (AQI) daily. AQI levels between 0-50 are “Good,” but anything above 150 can be “Unhealthy,” especially for sensitive groups. By staying informed and adopting these preventive measures, residents can contribute to RUDA’s goal of a cleaner, safer Lahore.
This campaign reflects RUDA’s commitment to improving the city’s air quality and ensuring a healthier environment for everyone. Let’s join hands to #ClearTheAir and protect Lahore from the invisible threats of smog.
